Hetzner is great.
Roost Hosting is for more than a VPS.

Hetzner Cloud has exceptional price-performance for raw compute. We're not going to pretend otherwise. Roost Hosting is built for developers and agencies who also need cPanel shared hosting, domain management, and an AI assistant — all from one panel and one credit balance.

When Roost Hosting makes more sense.

Specific situations where the bundle matters more than the per-hour rate.

01

You run cPanel sites alongside your VPS workloads.

Hetzner is VPS-only. If your agency also maintains cPanel shared hosting for clients, you currently need a second vendor. Roost Hosting does both — same panel, same login, same invoice.

02

You want to pre-pay and control your spend precisely.

Hetzner invoices you after the fact. Roost Hosting is prepaid: top up what you need, servers draw from the balance. You see available vs reserved at all times — no end-of-month invoice surprises.

03

You want domain registration in the same panel.

Hetzner manages DNS zones but doesn't register domains. With Roost Hosting, the domain renews from the same credit balance as your VPS — no separate registrar, no WHOIS privacy fee.

04

You want an AI assistant that knows your infrastructure.

Roost Hosting's built-in AI can read logs, check resource usage, and walk through deploys — all from the same panel, in any language, with your own Anthropic key or Roost Hosting's shared key.

When Hetzner is the right call.

Being straight about where they genuinely outperform us.

01

Raw price matters more than anything else.

Hetzner's CX22 (2 vCPU, 4 GB) at ~€3.79/mo is hard to match. If you're running dozens of servers and the per-hour rate is the primary metric, Hetzner wins.

02

You need more EU datacenter options.

Hetzner has five locations including multiple German sites and Helsinki. Roost Hosting has Frankfurt for EU compliance — but not multiple EU sub-regions yet.

03

You need a larger product portfolio.

Hetzner offers dedicated servers, storage boxes, load balancers, and managed Kubernetes. We're a focused VPS + cPanel + domains shop — not trying to be a full cloud platform.

04

You need more than 25+ years of track record.

Hetzner has been running infrastructure since 1997. Roost Hosting is newer. If enterprise procurement, signed contracts, and long-standing compliance audits matter, Hetzner is the safer choice today.

Frequently asked questions.

Hetzner is cheaper — why would I choose Roost Hosting?

Hetzner is genuinely cheaper on raw VPS price, and we say so plainly on this page. Roost Hosting makes sense if you also need cPanel shared hosting, domain registration, or a built-in AI assistant — all in one panel with one credit balance. If you only need bare VPS, Hetzner is excellent value.

Does Roost Hosting have EU datacenters?

Yes — Frankfurt is on the list. Hetzner has more EU options (Nuremberg, Falkenstein, Helsinki), so if EU-only data residency with multiple region choices matters, Hetzner has more selection today.

How does billing differ?

Hetzner bills post-paid: they invoice you at the end of the month for hours used. Roost Hosting is prepaid: you top up a credit balance, and servers draw from it hourly. With Roost Hosting you always know your available balance before deploying, with no end-of-month surprise.

Can I migrate from Hetzner to Roost Hosting?

Yes. Both use KVM, standard Linux images, and cloud-init. Rsync or snapshot export + import works for most workloads. Contact support for help with the specifics.

Does Roost Hosting support Windows?

Not yet — Linux only, same as Hetzner Cloud. Windows is on the roadmap but not currently available on either platform.
