What is MCP?

A standard way for AI tools to talk to real services.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data — like your hosting account. Instead of copying logs into a chat window, your AI editor can read them directly.

Think of it like giving Claude Desktop a read-only (and optionally write) connection to your servers. It asks, Roost answers, Claude explains it to you.

For the technical reader Roost's MCP server exposes authenticated HTTP endpoints at /api/mcp/tools (GET) and /api/mcp/call (POST). Token auth via Bearer header. Read tools run immediately; write tools require explicit client confirmation.

That's all. No CLI tools, no local proxy, no npm install.

Three steps. Thirty seconds.

Nothing to install on your machine. Roost hosts the MCP server.

What Claude can do with your servers.

Every capability in the panel AI is also available via MCP. Your editor, your choice.

Read server logs Nginx, PHP-FPM, system journal — Claude reads them and summarises what matters.
Check disk and resources CPU load, RAM usage, disk free — real numbers, not estimates.
Get service status Is the VPS running? What's the uptime? Which services are active?
Diagnose and explain Ask why something is slow or broken. Claude correlates across logs, CPU, and memory simultaneously.
Confirm-to-write actions Anything that modifies your server requires explicit confirmation in the MCP client before it runs.
Any language Ask in the language you think in. Claude handles the translation on its end.

Secure by default.

MCP tokens are scoped to your account only. Each token has its own revoke button. Read-only tools need no confirmation. Write tools always do.

Token scoped to your account

MCP tokens can only see your own services. No cross-account access is possible, ever.

Revoke any time

Each token has its own revoke button in Profile → AI Keys. Revoke instantly invalidates it everywhere.

Full audit log

Every MCP tool call is logged with tool name, parameters, result, and IP address. Visible in Activity Log.

SHA-256 hashed tokens

Tokens are hashed before storage. Even if the database were compromised, raw tokens are never exposed.

Connect in 30 seconds.
Never SSH just to check disk again.
